The University of Zakho Approves the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engineering Department Curriculum

 

With the aim of advancing academic and scientific standards, the College of Engineering at the University of Zakho held its second special meeting to review and approve the curriculum of the Artificial Intelligence Engineering Department for the 2026–2027 academic year.

The meeting was attended by a specialized scientific and academic committee composed of faculty members from the University of Zakho and the University of Duhok. To ensure greater academic rigor and quality in the curriculum review process, Professor Dr. Ahmed Khorshid from the University of Duhok chaired the committee. The meeting was also attended by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Assistant Professor Dr. Fursat Hito, along with committee members Assistant Professor Dr. Miwan Bahjat, Assistant Professor Dr. Masoud Mohammed, Mr. Shvan Abdulwahab, Mr. Adnan Ismail, Dr. Haitham Thamer, and Engineer Kurdistan Mohsen.

During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on several key topics, and the following decisions were approved:

  • Curriculum Reform: A comprehensive review and revision of the study curriculum was completed, covering all semesters from the first through the eighth.
  • Course Finalization: Following earlier work on the first- and second-year courses, the curricula and course contents for the third and fourth years were finalized and officially adopted during this meeting.
  • Final Approval: After several days of intensive work on the academic program documentation, the new curriculum was formally approved on 28 June 2026.

The completion of this initiative marks a significant step toward aligning the academic program with contemporary developments and global innovations in the fields of technology and artificial intelligence. It aims to prepare highly qualified graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively meet the demands of the job market and contribute to the advancement of society.
